Anna Niedermeier in Des Moines

Oh hi! Funny seeing you here. My name is Anna Niedermeier (although you could call me Anna Nieds for short), and I’m currently a sophomore at Drake University studying Advertising and Marketing, with a minor in Graphic Design.

With a passion for all things photography, social media, and people, I’ve had the opportunity of being a part of our on-campus publication: DrakeMag, as well as join a sorority on campus: Alpha Phi

Curious to know more about who ~Anna Niedermeier~ really is?

As an avid creative who treasures extra sweet coffee drinks and extra long daytime naps, my two favorite places are Starbucks and my bed (although I frequent the futon for those unexpected dozes too). For that reason, it only makes sense that I strongly endorse caffeine naps (look it up, if you must).

Among other things, I also enjoy thrifting and online shopping (the obsession with Depop is too real). With an impulsivity to always try new things, I enjoy rebranding myself often, both through my sense of fashion and my Instagram and social media presence. With a love for being different and unexpected I slogan’d myself “It’s quirky hour” and started posting whatever I wanted online, and the rest is history.

Speaking of history, I grew up in the lovely windmill city of Batavia, IL. As one of many Chicago suburbians, I always enjoy a trip to the city to explore new eats, zine shops, and thrift stores (a visit to Jeni’s ice cream is always a must). Growing up in a family that enjoys flying the Chicago Cubs’ W Flag more than anything, Wrigleyville is also a go-to. More than that, I enjoy travelling to other cities as well. Going out of the country for the first time senior year of high school to Spain, I’ve looked forward to my next trip abroad since the second I got back.

More than just what I love to do, is what I love to listen to. I grew up always riding around in the backseat of my parents’ cars, which meant my brain absorbed a whole lot of classic rock. Since then, I’ve only grown to love bands like Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and Cheap Trick.

That’s not to say my music taste hasn’t expanded to other genres, as I’ve found myself a big fan of alt. and indie music. Bands like Cage the Elephant, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, and Vampire Weekend have captured my heart, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. My Spotify playlists have served as I way for me to look back on my everchanging music taste, and remember times in my life based on the music I was listening to at the time.
